Aw, loved this! I only grew up with one grandma and she lived in a different state but the few times we were together Christmas cookie baking was an all day event for sure. I think she made snickerdoodles at other times of the year, which I keep meaning to make! At Christmas it was sugar cookies (in holiday cookie cutter shapes) with colored sugar or frosting on top, pistachio pudding cookies (a rolled ball/thumbrint cookie) with extra food coloring to make them greener and marschino cherries for decoration, gingerbread candy canes with stripe sof white icing. Hm what else, I think she experimented with different ones. Growing up my Mom made some of the ones mentioned as well as mini pecan pie tarts. I usually make cranberry bread (also from my Mom/grandma tradition wise) and sometimes one or two cookies but they are just a lot of eating for two people! I used to send some to my husband's office when he worked in an office. Last year I made stollen for the first time, kind of a lot of work and it didn't rise enough though. I also like pfeffeurneusse and have made them a couple of times.
