Bravo, rage against the dying of the light, etc.! I feel your pain. I don't dumb it down too much, but I do write less academically/more bloggerly in style from writing on the internet for too long. And even that is a bridge too far for most people wanting chunks of topiarized text bullet spaced and spoon fed to them.
