Fun read! Some interesting and some new to me choices. Lulu is everpresent in the UK but I admit I hadn't really heard of her until I moved here as she was before my time. I like the sound of both Melanie, who I had vaguely heard of, and Gayle McCormack who I feel like maybe I have read about elsewhere here (maybe from you?). Macy Gray was a weird one for sure, I think she just didn't have enough hits lined up off the back of I try, she definitely has a memorable voice. I was a huge Liz Phair fan in the 90s, and honestly I feel like she or her management shot her in the foot with the shift to poppier stuff (I think I remember reading it was her decision actually). But it always seemed like a weird one, why reject a niche audience who loves your work. Evolve, sure, but 90s girls didn't listen to her for mainstream sounds they could get anywhere else. Exile in Guyvillle was like Joni Mitchell for us, it always seemed weird to me. Anyway! Good stuff!
