Glad your detective work paid off. I admit I can be lax, also defeatist with pain issues. Pretty sure I have inherited my mother's bursitis which unfortunately there is not a lot they can do for besides shots. I have really let my knee issues go during the pandemic too. But you are right giving up isn't the answer either. I do find yoga helps my hips, I would recommend Yoga with Adriene on Youtube if you haven't tried her yet, I think she has a video just for hips as well. I never heard of the psoas muscle, interesting and understandable it would be frustrating to have to discover this yourself! Hope you find some methods and exercises that relieve your pain soon.
