Great pick! A lot of diehards poo poo their later stuff as too slick I guess but I will always have deep affection for DTAS and Pleased to Meet Me as they were my first exposure to the band. I love how this song has this killer radio friendly sound but still grinds those bleak, sarcastic Westerberg lyrics as you say, the man refused to sell out and that's part of his mystique/legend status I guess. I also have this weird theory Tom Petty stole the "rebel without a clue" line and nobody noticed because the Mats were such a tragically underloved band at the time.
