I admit I don't keep up with much modern country, other than alt/outside the Nashville mainstream stuff like Gillian Welch. For both taste reasons (I was never into all of the cowboy hat wearing machismo crap of the 90s although I did like Shania Twain in that era), and also being really disturbed by how close minded and burn anyone at the stake who doesn't conform to mainstream country music it all became (the treatment of the Dixie Chicks/now The Chicks was particularly bad to me). But I have become more aware of voices I like like Angel Olsen and a few others who again maybe skirt around being fully embraced - anyway I like the Kacey Musgrave song, it's really good and I can see how it caused a stir in those circles as unoffensive as it is imo! I guess progress will always come a bit slower, I agree it won't come at all without agreeing to disagree on some things. Thanks for the tag - the main song by Musgraves that I knew/liked was one she wrote(or co-wrote?) for the show Nashville (ok ok maybe I am a closet country fan! 😉) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YbiJ-TDd2xI
