I am curious why you think you will get diabetes if your weight isn't an issue and your meals are healthy. I don't know, I come at this from the space of having quit diet culture and health obsession, it sounds like you are really fixating and beating yourself up over this. I agree too much sugar is bad for you, but for me personally elimination just results in more fixation.
I did low carb diets for years, almost no sugar, guess when I ate the most sugar - when I came off of them. I am going to say something you might not like, and please ignore me if you want. Add more nutritious/vitamin sugar during the day. Have a smoothie or some fruit at breakfast or lunch. With protein or a slow carb. Not as your "treat", I totally get that fruit is not a treat when you crave junky stuff. Maybe still have a "bad" sugar treat once a week, if you can. I feel like severe elimination isn't necessarily the answer (again my experience is different, I just know from years of e.d. and diet brain that depriving myself completely of what I want to eat is not the answer long term).
From what I understand most things eventually break down to sugar, so a sugar "detox" is basically impossible anyway? I get that you feel replacing alcohol with sugar is unhealthy, and agree with you, but also you are doing amazing, please be kind to yourself. I hope you can find a way to feel better in your body, sorry if I overstepped, I just know all too well the dangers of diet obsession. It's really not an avenue I would recommend. ❤️✌️
