I, an 80s Child, Thought the Nerdpocalypse Would Be a Lot More Fun

This isn’t the revenge of the nerds I was promised

Something has seriously messed up the timeline. The nerds are now firmly in charge, and no one is having any fun. These aren’t the nerds I was promised growing up in the ’80s.

Nerds were always cool by me. Were they overly sex obsessed, oh yeah. But once they had invented a handy fembot girl with floppy discs and a dream, they tended to eventually do the right thing. Sure, they needed to throw a rager, turn their bully into a giant blob, destroy the Greek fraternity system, all that jazz.

But eventually, they chilled out and used their brilliant brains for good, not evil.

They certainly never lined up to kiss the ring of the class bully once the tables had turned. They didn’t use their coding superpowers to destroy creative industries.

If they were going to hack into the government it was to try to avert a nuclear war, not rob their Grandma’s social security accounts.
