I don't like to wait either, but as a new editor of a very small pub, I do have a bit more respect for editors of big pubs, I imagine it is a lot of work. And unless they are boosters they aren't being paid. I like when pubs tell me when to expect to be published, and get back to me within a day or two. I have had to wait weeks with some (for a dang rejection lol!) and it's not my favorite either!
