I Joined Vocal Media Because Medium Has Gone Downhill Fast
Medium, I’m bored without my “entity” heads/favorite writers missing from my feed and not impressed with the “improvements” around here so far
I finally caved and joined Vocal Media today, mostly in a huff at the state of things on Medium at present. Did you know they have large cash money competitions? (available only with Vocal+, I admit I am on the fence because you can earn there without being a plus member, I am dipping my toe in the water!).
Sure, it’s a shot in the dark but still, when was the last time Medium did anything exciting to motivate writers to excel? A year ago exactly, that’s when! The infamous Medium Writing Competition, which gave out fat wads of cash to people who mostly don’t even write here! I know some publications do competitions and they are fun but it really shouldn’t be left to unpaid editors to scrounge around to reward writers for excellence.
Vocal also pay for outside reads, imagine that! For those of us who have had outside viral hits that paid pennies here at Medium that is temptation indeed.
