I think it may be more due to the fact that payment for (unboosted) reads has gone down dramatically, that suddenly some members reads are worth more and they are also earning more than people who haven't joined FOM. I certainly don't avoid FOM but I am less motivated to spend time reading lately. The site feels dead compared to how it once was on non-boosted reads and all of the spammy content and activity has made it unpleasant to navigate when looking up tags/topics.
