I visited almost ten years ago now, which is scary, feels like a blip. Did you do the guided tour? It made me more sympathetic towards him. Being bipolar back then was not an easy path, I found him quite tragic. I liked the rooms with his letters from writer friends, and the art deco bathroom. I don't mind him too much, I always thought his male heroes were so obviously flawed I guess the sexism didn't bother me as much, but I was much younger the last time I read him. Glad his writing advice helped you trim some fat with your book and make good progress. The cats are crazy, I was worried I would have an allergic attack but it was fine. The six toed paws are adorable.
