I was just watching clips from the Sopranos go to Italy episode (R.I.P. Paulie), they really nailed this. Although I would be sad to have no spaghetti with meatballs, or "macaroni with gravy", pleb that I am.

Seriously a very helpful and important message in this hilariously entertaining piece though. I feel weird as an expat/immigrant when other Americans ask me for advice too. It wasn't easy for me, and I had a guy who wanted to marry me. You really do have to be independently loaded or have a job lined up in Europe to make it work in most cases. The birth name thing is crazy but I totally believe it. I do feel for Americans wanting to get out, it is such scary times right now.

I dated a real New England Italian but I don't know where his fam was from originally. They put raisins in their meatballs though which blew my mind. I feel like there were a lot of Italians in Rhode Island? I went to high school like 20 minutes from Providence in Mass.

p.s. shoutout to the hidden Semisonic quote! 👌
