I’m Going to Publish Something Every Day Between Now and Christmas Because Why Not?
Get ready for some ring a ding dirge, dusty drafts and holiday hokum
When I first joined Medium I ignored the multiple articles advising me to publish every day. As a lapsed blogger, I know my limits. I know my writing muse strikes in spurts, and then needs a long nap and a snack and maybe a dance party or cheesy movie fest.
It’s hard to just write write write all day, and besides, I have STANDARDS (LOL me). I have a pocketful of unpublished drafts, things that (for me) are B-grade, or lower. Not that everything I publish is amazing, far from it, but if I think I can make something better I usually spend hours revising it to the best I think it can be.
I am aware the algorithm supposedly rewards consistency, but I am not pinning any hopes on that at this point either. I have experienced a steep drop in reads and earnings since the “We totally haven’t changed anything” changes to distribution, so uh yeah. Why bother knocking myself out on the attempted literary masterpiece here at this point is my attitude.
Treat Medium like my dumb old blog, write gibberish, write journals, bad poetry, odes to hot dudes, whatEVER is my m.o. at this point. I fear Medium is a sinking ship, I could be wrong, but I know I am not alone in this from…
