It genuinely never occurred to me the connection between basic and women, so well observed Ellen! 👏 I think maybe internet culture has a lot to do with people not growing out of this as teenagers now too. Everything is so tribal and over-analyzed to death. There's a song by young Norwegian pop pixie Sigrid called "Can I be basic with you?", maybe this next gen will reclaim basic as the un-shameful right we all have to like what we like! Loved this piece, fun and I would happily have a pumpkin spice latte with you sometime (although tbh I am more of a mocha fan, which is also so basic! 😉).
