It has a lot more depth to it than episode one lets on, if you watch episode two you might change your mind. It's certainly not pleasant at times, I don't enjoy gore or the death aspects of it at all, but the character development did make me care, much like Black Summer on Netflix the bleak cruelty of the world they inhibit is much starker than even The Walking Dead, there is little time for sentiment so when it does deliver the emotional gut punch is real. It does ask a lot of questions about the rich vs. poor in society and what we accept as ok is really just being exhibited by the game and I do think it at least begins to explore societal inequality from a non-traditional storytelling standpoint. It's not perfect but it's daring and compelling viewing.
