goodbye dear friend I never knew
The beginning of a new month
nay - a New Year!
heralds the 000 reset in the land of Medium
We begin each day dot fresh, renewed
the possibilities endless
maybe this month we will strike it rich!
Alas I was greeted with the sad news
of the departure of an old friend
a mystery patron has abandoned me
Goodbye dark stranger
Maybe they found a shinier penny
maybe they got sick of my babble and squeak
maybe they never read me at all?
’Tis a mystery, the society of affiliate members
where they come from, why they are here
For just over $2 a month lo this past year
I wouldn’t have minded
buying them a beer

I’ll be not seeing you.
