Sweet, funny memoir, thanks for sharing the surreal aspects. I adored her voice as a child, there was something so transportive about it. Something about that hometown fame is so fervent to the locals, I recall my dad's friend had once dated a woman who ended up in Dallas (the tv show), and as a kid I didn't really understand why we were supposed to care.
