Thanks Ellen. To be fair she was very young and unmarried at a time that made keeping him unacceptable in most circles. The father was at least a decade older so it was possible he was married too, who knows. Like I mentioned I felt that hearing about her visiting him (these stories were repeated to me by my mom and his relative shortly after he died) influenced my feeling that she maybe still wondered about him. I didn't really expect these people to want to meet me, it was mostly that I wanted to know I shared his story in case she ever asked or expressed interest in him. I think it did upset me a little that her daughter was so closed off about it all but not knowing their family history it's hard to judge.
