To be honest the categories are really tough to think up something original (or anything at all). I had an idea come to me and realized it vaguely fitted one of them but other than that am drawing a blank and agree with everyone who says they are a bit bleak/un-inspirational. Plus the negative publicity about the copywright thing seemed to put a lot of people off. Also psychologically submitting to a contest is placing yourself in a vulnerable spot. It's one thing if something you write doesn't take off or go viral, it's another if you have a hope of winning something and get rejected. It's more akin to submitting to a paid or outside publication imo, maybe some people lack the confidence. If some people can do it devil may care and not invest too much that is good for them but not everyone is in the same boat.
