What’s Really Going On At Medium?
I feel like a lot of us are wondering, and not getting many clear answers
I found myself getting really fired up in the comments of a recent post about the changes at Medium. I realized that my anger and annoyance were somewhat misdirected and ultimately pointless, so I deleted them. If the person felt any offense I apologize, but a grumpy comment contradicting their entire premise probably lands like a gnat on their windshield.
I don’t generally read many of these posts that merely reiterate the messages from the bigwigs and put a positive spin on them, I know better. But I have gotten sucked into wanting to know what the heck is going on around here with the changes in leadership, and read a few of the types of articles I usually avoid.
What irks me is when big or big-ish writers start telling us lowly Medium plebs that not making money here, as new Medium CEO Tony Stubblebine has basically implied is what we are in for in various ways if anyone is paying attention, is something we should adapt to/get used to.
I don’t know about you, but when someone says that my hard work and efforts are pointless here, I should become some sort of identikit writer-preneur selling courses like some sort of one woman MLM machine, all while humblebragging they themselves make four figures a month here, it invokes a futile…
