When I was a pseudo starving artist in NY (I was poor, but too proud to ask for available help) for awhile I lived on walnut rolls and soup from a fancy grocery store in Soho - it may have been Whole Foods, not sure they were around mid 90s. I did seek more economical nourishment sometimes, but something about treating myself to something I couldn't afford made me feel better. So that's what this wonderful piece stirred up for me, thanks! My Mom lived in San Francisco in the late 60s and barely speaks about it, I always presume it was too wonderful to describe adequately, I know she loved it though.
