Wise words and I think you had your head on your shoulders more than most when you first embarked on your expat journey, so you are set up in a really advantageous mindset in this step of your journey. I never really related to most expat stories tbh, I didn't move to change my life in most of the ways people do, but I was following a dream I guess in the romance way. Weirdly I was looking at the American club where I live recently, I guess I am feeling disconnected/homesick. But I know I would have nothing in common with them realistically, mostly rich oil wives who come here for a couple of years and don't really adapt is the impression I get from the blogs. Expat life as a n extended vacation is really common, and not my own experience. Off on a tangent, sorry! I love that you have settled, and found a place that feels like home, for however long it lasts you are grounded and learning and living your life your way, something very few people ever dare to do.
