(UPDATE AT BOTTOM, an answer to the question)With So Much Added Junk in Our Article Trunk, Can Medium Explain Why They Require Readers to Scroll A Ridiculous Amount To Register a Read for its Beleaguered Writers?

I just finished reading a great article. I was about to click away when I remembered something I read recently.

We (supposedly*) have to scroll all the way to the bottom to register a read. I think I always try to do this, but now, for some bizarre reason, Medium’s latest format change has added a truckload of “related” (scoffs) stories at the bottom of our articles. If an article is in a publication, fair enough add a couple of others from said pub at the bottom. (I have noticed the format is worse on desktop than the app, which has slightly less add ons)

This is self published so will at least have a few of my own, but underneath that there are four unrelated articles in a separate white space that I am willing to bet most people don’t realize is there now.

We used to have articles besides our articles, which I didn’t really mind. I far prefer the old format if this is going to lead to less registered reads.
