You make a lot of good points here, I do think it has lost some of its heart and the characters aren't as well defined as in earlier seasons maybe. Starlight in particular had little to do. I can understand why they are tempted to take the show so close to reality, things are so out of control on every front that fiction either has to match or out-do it. I thought the final scene was powerful but I also saw it coming, it's scary that it doen't seem that far away from real life. I was also a Supernatural/Jensen fan going in and agree he was underused. I was glad they saved Maeve, and that she was the one who hurt Homelander the most in the end, I felt like that was a choice that showed the humanity in (some of) the supes might be more powerful than the rest of the season gave us reason to root for. I think Deep and A-Train might have bigger parts to play against Homelander next season too.
